Lethal Company Wiki

The Spray Paint is a store item in lethal company. It can be purchased from the store for 50▮. It can be used just for fun to make art or otherwise mess around with, but it can also be used practically, such as to mark dead ends and the way back to prevent getting lost. The can can only spray for about 1 second before needing to be shaken using the Q key. You can spray paint during the shake animation, and it does not affect spray amount or accuracy. The paint in the can lasts for a total of 25 seconds of use, and after it runs out, you must purchase a new one from the store.

Colors are randomly selected and can be...

  • Red
  • Purple
  • Green
  • Yellow

The paint works on most surfaces, with very little restrictions. Additionally, it can be sprayed and remain anywhere permanently on the ship, both on the interior and exterior, as well as the first room of a facility, due to said room always being the same (besides blocked off doorways). Beware of spraying it on the terminal and monitors, as it will forever render them unseeable unless you quit and re-join/re-host. Community testing for potential uses against monsters is currently underway; an incomplete list can be viewed below.

Recommended potential markings:[]

The following is a small list of recommended markings for players to paint using the Spray Paint, and their likely meanings.

  • An arrow or half arrow (less paint usage), directed back towards an exit (or up / down for staircases). Recommended for use in "labyrinth" areas, which are easy to get lost in.
  • An "X" or "Ø" symbol, meaning the direction beyond the paint is a dead end / entirely looted. When placed near an entrance from outside, this shows that the entrance is closely guarded by a monster and should not be used if possible as it will likely result in almost instant death.

Alternatively, to further save on paint, a dot or short line may be used as substitutes for the above symbols. This method can ration a single paint enough to last multiple moons, at the expense of clarity. If one plans to use this scheme, they must be sure to effectively communicate its details to their team.

Spray Paint's effect against monsters:[]

This is a section intended for compiling the community's attempts to discern the Spray Paint's effects against the various monsters in Lethal Company. Will be removed upon sufficient data gathered, to be replaced with a more official, finalized wiki section. This section can be safely discarded by readers until either an effect on monsters is discovered or a completed list shows no effect on any of the monsters in the game, it is purely for the sake of information gathering. Unless otherwise noted, paint appearing on the corpses of entities is assumed to be the same as non-corpses.

ALREADY TESTED:

  • Bunker spider: No effect. Part of the spider showed paint markings, most of it didn't. Does not stun or reduce aggression. No effect on webs, paint does not appear on them. No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Eyeless dog: No effect. Spray did not appear on the dog. The noise of the can shaking and spraying does not appear to alert eyeless dogs, nor does spraying them directly. Does not stun or reduce aggression. No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Forest Keeper: No effect. Showed paint markings on some parts of legs. The noise doesn't seem to alert them. Does not stun or reduce aggression. No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Bracken: No effect. Paint went straight through Bracken and onto the wall behind it, only marking the wall (Potential hitbox error, needs further testing). Does not stun or reduce aggression, No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Jester: No effect. Showed paint markings on the Skull and the top of the arteries/veins, but paint on the skull disappears after the attack animation has played. Paint does not stun or reduce aggression, No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Hygrodere: No effect. Paint did not appear on Hygrodere. Does not stun or reduce aggression, No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Hoarding bug: No effect. Paint did not appear on Hoarding Bug. Does not stun or reduce aggression, No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Coil head: No effect. Paint appeared very inconsistently, though paint is able to coat whole body in incomplete segments - paint disappears after movement. Does not stun or reduce aggression, No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Thumper: No effect. Showed paint markings on most of the model besides the head and centre of the main body. Does not stun or reduce aggression, No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Masked (Natural spawn): No effect. Paint did not show up on Masked. Does not stun or reduce aggression, No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Masked (Turned Player): No effect. Paint already on the Player remained on Masked, but no new paint could be added. Minor graphical glitches with the head of the Masked where paint had been on the Player's head. Does not stun or reduce aggression, No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Circuit bees: No effect. Spray did not appear on the hive. The noise of the can shaking and spraying does not appear to alert the bees, nor does spraying them directly. Does not stun or reduce aggression. No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Landmine: Landmine can be painted, it will show up and colour the mine but will not obscure or alter the flashing lights. It does not affect landmine detonation in any way, the landmine will explode normally, even with a full can's worth of spray paint sprayed onto it.
  • Turrets: Paint does not show on turrets. It does not affect turret targeting in any way, and will fire as normal.
  • Spore Lizard: No effect, Paint did not appear on model. Does not stun or scare, No reaction to environmental paint markings.
  • Butler: Paint appeared inconsistently on butlers face. Does not stun or scare while passive or active, no reaction to environmental pain markings.
  • Tulip Snake: Paint appeared everywhere on the Tulip Snake while on employees head, and remained painted after hopping off. Further testing likely impossible due to how quickly they attach to employees
  • Snare Flea (Snared): Paint appeared sporadically, and remained on the players model but not the creature after being shoveled off, albeit "detached" from the players model, Did not knock the Snare Flea off.

REMAINING TESTS NEEDED:

  • Entities: Snare Flea (unsnared if possible), Baboon Hawk (potential use in scaring them away?), Old Bird (Both inactive and active, if possible), Maneater (Baby and adult forms, if possible)
  • An Employee's corpse

Earth leviathan not listed because testing is likely impossible / almost guaranteed to have no effect if testing is successful, same with ghost girl (incorporeal), though you’re free to try. Please be aware that given the results of other tests, testing with spray paint on hostile monsters will almost definitely result in death.
