Snare Fleas, also known as Centipedes, are large insectoid entities in Lethal Company.
They use their silk to stick on ceilings and wait there patiently for their next kill. When an Employee walks under it or near it, they will drop down and wrap themselves on the Employee's head to suffocate them.
Bestiary[]
- Sigurd's danger level: 30%
- Scientific name: Dolus-scolopendra
- A very large arthropod of the class Chilopoda. Its body produces a silk which it primarily uses to propel itself to places where it is concealed. Its exoskeleton is somewhat fragile, and they can die from long falls. The snare flea does not produce venom, nor does it have a strong bite. It makes up for this weakness with its ability to tighten itself around large prey to suffocate.
- The snare flea thrives in dark, warm areas. It cannot survive low temperatures and generally avoids open air and sunlight take the rats outside or just beat the hell otu of them! i think their insides could make a good milkshake,,

Behavior[]
Snare Fleas hang from ceilings and drop when a player walks near, attempting to attach to the player's head and suffocate them. Fleas will muffle the voice of the player it attaches to, making calling out for help difficult. They will only let go if damaged, if their target leaves the facility, or when their target dies, after which they will reattach to the ceiling. They are able to open doors.
Strategy[]
- Watch the ceiling for Snare Fleas; they can be identified with the Echo Scanner.
- If you can find a way around a Snare Flea, or it is only blocking a dead end, they can be safely ignored.
- The snare flea attaches at a great speed to the ceiling and is easy to lose track of due to its speed; be careful of your surroundings and make sure to keep an eye on a fallen snare flea at all times.
- You can manage to make the snare flea fall off the ceiling without damaging any players by quickly going under its resting post and retreating quickly. This is a risky technique, and may be difficult for new players.
- In some cases, the snare fleas will fall into a pit. Whether it misses its target, gets pushed, or falls off a railing, in this scenario, it is unsure whether it will be able to attach back to the ceiling or be permanently doomed.
- Shaking your head does NOT result in the Snare Flea being dislodged. If playing alone, the Snare Flea will automatically detach once the player reaches critical health. This does not occur in multiplayer.
- If a coworker is unfortunate enough to be attacked by the Flea, use a shovel, stop sign, or yield sign to remove it.
- If you have no way to remove the Snare Flea from a coworker's head, it may be best to guide them to a Fire Exit, the Main Entrance, or if you are out of options, a pit or landmine, as the Snare Flea remains dangerous after killing its target.
- If you are close to an exit, you can try to blindly reach it, as leaving the facility will cause the Snare Flea to immediately die.
- Being teleported to the ship while being attacked will also cause it to immediately die.
- When the Snare Flea is on your head, there is a small hole in the top right corner of your screen. You can utilize this hole to find your items or an exit.
- If the Snare Flea latches onto you:
- Remain calm and stand still. You drop all carried equipment once latched on to, and running around may cause you to lose track of it.
- Reach for a lifeline. If you were carrying a Sign, Shovel, Stun grenade, DIY-Flashbang, Double-barrel, or a Kitchen Knife, you can find and use it to knock it off of your head, hunt it down, and consequently end its life. Alternatively, if you have a teleporter, try to grab your walkie-talkie and notify a player on the ship to teleport you out, as it will kill the flea.
- If you don't have a lifeline:
- Multiplayer: Politely identify and make use of any turrets, mines, or holes around you. The safety of your coworkers is of utmost importance in this situation.
- Singleplayer: Collect all of your equipment and scrap and wait for the flea to fall off at critical health. The only thing worse than losing your items is losing your life. Be aware that wherever you are standing when the flea falls off, it will grapple back onto the ceiling at that location and will drop back down if you are still under it.
- If you don't have a lifeline:
- Snare Fleas can be easily killed without risk by hitting them off the ceiling with a shovel, waiting for them to run away and reattach, then hitting them again.
Notes[]
- The Television offers several "tips" on dealing with Snare Fleas in a workplace-safe manner.
- The way the Snare Flea attaches to the ceiling of bunkers is by throwing a web-like substance and quickly rising to the ceiling.
- Hitting the corpse of a dead snare flea will still make the same sound that it would make if you attacked it.
- The noises a dead snare flea makes can be detected by Eyeless Dogs, only occurring when a snare flea is brought to the ship via teleporter.
- A stunned Snare Flea may either be difficult or impossible to kill, as its hitbox becomes bugged when stunned.
- If two players touch the Snare Flea at the same time while its giving chase. One will be ensnared while the other will take minor damage while you can hear the Snare Flea like if it was on your head. This can cause your voice to be muffled even though nothing is on you. The Bug will reset after leaving the Moon.
Trivia[]
- Dolus-scolopendra roughly translates to "trick centipede" in Latin.
- The way Snare Fleas attach themselves to a player's head in order to kill them is similar to the Headcrabs and Facehuggers from the Half-Life and the Alien series, respectively.
- Due to these similarities, Players may use these terms to refer to Snare Fleas.
