Lethal Company is a cooperative survival horror video game developed and published by Zeekerss. It falls under the genres of action, adventure, indie, online co-op, horror, first-person and sci-fi.

It was released in early access on Steam for Microsoft Windows on October 23, 2023. The game is currently available on Steam's online storefront for $9.99 USD ($5.79 USD in LATAM & MENA Prices)[1]. It is playable with up to 4 players.

Main Premise[]

"A co-op horror about scavenging at abandoned moons to sell scrap to the Company."

You are a contracted worker for the Company. Your job is to collect scrap from abandoned, industrialized moons to meet the Company's profit quota. You can use the cash you earn to travel to new moons with higher risks and rewards--or you can buy fancy suits and decorations for your ship. Experience nature, scanning any creature you find to add them to your Bestiary. Explore the wondrous outdoors and rummage through their derelict, steel and concrete underbellies. Just never miss the quota.

These dangers prey upon the vulnerable and lonesome, and the protection of your crew may be your only hope. You can guide your crewmates from your ship, using the radar to call out traps and using the ship's terminal to access remotely locked doors--or you can all go in together. The Company store has many useful tools for the job, including lights, shovels, walkie talkies, stun grenades, or boomboxes.

Things get dangerous at night. Communicate with your crewmates to carry all valuables to the ship before things get too dangerous, and try not to leave anyone behind.

Development[]

Zeekerss is an indie game developer who has previously released other titles on Steam, Roblox and the Itch.io platform. Zeekerss built Lethal Company on the Unity game engine.

According to Zeekerss, Lethal Company started out as a completely indoor game with an elevator instead of a space ship.

The game was formally announced as a "co-op horror roguelite about an abandoned, industrial moon", on July 8, 2022, via a YouTube teaser, however Zeekerss had been publishing updates about the game on his Patreon even earlier than this, since at least May 2022.

The official trailer premiered on YouTube on August 1, 2023, featuring narration by YouTuber Joseph Chaney. At this point in time, Zeekerss described the game as "a co-op horror experience about collecting scrap from desolate moons to sell to the Company."

It was released via Steam in early access on October 23, 2023. Zeekerss stated that they "plan to finish it within 6 months." Since release, Zeekerss has been focused mainly on adding new content, cycling between new creatures, items/upgrades, and decorations, as well as fixing bugs.

On November 11, 2023, Version 40 was released under "The Autumnal Update". This was followed by Version 45, "The Frosty Update", on December 9, 2023. Following this, Version 47, "The Challenge Moons Patch", on January 8, 2024, Version 50, "The Hopping Update", on April 13, 2024, then Version 60, "The Stuffy Update" on August 17th 2024. After came Version 64, "The Bag Patch" on September 5th 2024. Later, Version 65, on October 23, 2024. Finally, Version 66, on October 25, 2024.
