Barbers, also known as Clay Surgeons, are humanoid-like entities made of purple clay in Lethal Company.
These faceless creatures follow a Master Barber's beat to move and attack players, jumping forward on a snare hit and slicing in half anything that collide with their scissors. They are the only entities that are typically invisible when far away, but are still able to be seen by all players when they get close to a player unlike the Ghost Girl, which can only be seen by one player.

I had a dream about the Barber
One day he made me a wig
Because his scissors were too big

Behavior[]
Barbers move by jumping towards their destination at a set interval. The jump interval is 2.75 seconds at the start of the day (8 a.m.), but speeds up throughout the day until 11 p.m., where its jump interval is 1.25 seconds. Barbers has two states: roaming and following.
Roaming: Barbers have a similar search routine to many other entities, wandering back and forth between two different areas.
Following: Barbers will switch to this state once an employee can fully see the barber and is in front of it. Barbers will continue to jump a set interval but now towards the target employee. When barbers are charging up (indicated by a snare drum roll), they will set their track to the target player's location at that time. Barbers then lunge forward (indicated by a snare hit) toward the employee. If the target employee is out of range to see the barber that's pursuing them, the barber will continue to lunge at the employee about six times before switching back to its roaming state.[1]
Strategy[]
- If you hear a barber, it's best to move slowly and conserve stamina, otherwise they could catch you off-guard and out of stamina.
- Use its snare and music to indicate when it's charging up and when it's lunging forward.
- Since barbers cannot open doors, you can prevent them from chasing you by locking them behind a door.
Notes[]
- The barber has the shortest bestiary, consisting of only two sentences (3 stanzas).
- It is also the only bestiary entry not written by either Sigurd or a professional, which can be inferred from the combination of a lack of a Sigurd's Danger Level and the informal, first-person writing. The only other case of writing in the terminal not from those two sources is the Desmond log, although this entry does not match his writing style either.
- Barbers struggle greatly to open doors, as they jump before they can successfully open them.[1]
- Unlike many other entities that hold weapons, the scissors is not a weapon that players can use due to the Barber's invincibility.
